I am really impressed with the July Paper Pumpkin kit! Stampin' Up! has definitely raised the bar in the quality of the kit by coordinating with THREE new suites - Woven Threads - Garden Lane - Come Sail Away.
As usual when i open my kit, I take out all the pieces and lay them all out on the table in front of me, and then I look at the picture in the instruction sheet to see what we're "supposed" to make. And then I imagine.... What I saw right away in this kit were 18 card mattes (by cutting the card bases in half), another 12 decorative pieces (again by cutting the 6 included pieces of DSP-like paper in half), and AMPLE other embellishments.
For the most-part, I stuck to what was in this kit, but I did add card bases from my own paper in Night of Navy, Old Olive, Whisper White and Soft Suede, and I used some bits and pieces from my stash of leftovers from previous PP kits (sequins, twine stamps). I also had Designer Series Paper and Memories & More Cards from Come Sail Away, so I used a little of that in the background, and I fussy cut a lighthouse. I thought the clouds were a little stark in just white, so I daubed a little Marina Mist ink on the edges to give them some depth.
I have so many pieces left from this kit - I can easily make another 12 cards. Paper Pumpkin is an amazing value, and a great way to get started in stamping. I have Paper Pumpkin Clubs where I bring alternate designs like these for you to do - along with helping you to make the ones described in the kit. I'm always looking for new members.
